This BW3 has been nicely remodeled since I was here last Fall, with more typical restaurant seating on one side and sports bar seating with lots of TV's and sports banners and stuff on the other side. The bar itself has been repositioned, yet if anything the draft beer selection has worsened. There a few craft beer taps - Saint Arnold, Fat Tire, perhaps one or two others, and a few decent imports. Everything else is mainstream low-flavor lagers. It is a pretty good place for what it is, but don't go here looking for a great beer experience.

Manny BW3 tap beers have that funky taste that comes from bad beer lines. If you want a big selection of quality beer, go around the corner to Gingerman. But be ready for a really arrogant bar staff. The food is typical sports bar food, nothing special. If you want be sure to watch a particular football game, stay the h*** away from this place. Some friends and I got there at 11 a.m. One Sunday morning to make sure we could get the games we wanted to watch. One game was of particular importance to me, but in the third quarter, after we ran up a large bill, the bartender changed my game to a basketball game because one guy at the bar wanted to see it. When I complained, he responded "I am the TV god."

BW-3 does not pretend to be a great beer bar – it is a sports bar. This is especially true for this location, with the legendary Ginger Man and the Two Rows brewpub within walking distance, and other fine bars in the vicinity. I was there with an alumni group to watch a bowl game, and BW-3 adequately served that purpose with lots of TV’s, and their well known wings and other pub grub. This location has probably 20 taps on the wall, featuring a largely uninspired selection of beers. However, on this evening my primary complaint was that there were too many empty taps. The featured beer special was Dundee’s Honey Brown – they were out of it before 8:0 PM (what, no back-up keg of your featured beer?!). I got the last quarter glass of Saint Arnold Christmas Ale (at no charge, thankfully). Sam Adams Lager – out. There were others out of service. When 25% of your taps have no beer, you either have a distributor problem or a management problem. I had an enjoyable evening (my football team won), but I was hoping for a little better beer experience.

The Chelsea Pub is now a BW3. Still has a lot of beer, but it's more a sports bar now.
